3. Junior Training Information

TRAINING SCHEDULE
________________________________________
On this page we have set out details for the juniors’ training schedule, including training for junior goalkeepers.

The training schedule for juniors can be found on our website. Please go to the Documents Section of our website and select juniors.

All our training sessions are led by qualified coaches supported by senior players and volunteer managers from the Club.

Training is scheduled for weekday evenings. Each training group will have a nominated lead coach and supporting coaches. All training takes place during Blatchington Mill School term dates. The hockey season starts in September and finishes in April.

As all training is outside, it may be necessary to cancel at short notice due to adverse weather conditions. The club officials will try to give as much notice as possible and communicate via Pitchero and Team WhatsApp groups.

All of the training is mainly organised by age group and so players and parents should note:
All Juniors should only attend their age group / assigned training sessions. Participation in other groups' sessions is strictly prohibited unless a parent or
junior player has received authorization from a Club Manager, AND the junior player has been added to the appropriate training schedule.
The Preparation for Transition (P4T) performance training is exclusively by
invitation, from the coaches only
and communicated through the Club Manager. Invited junior players will be included in the P4T training schedule
accordingly.
It is mandatory for junior players and parents to adhere to all safety protocols on the pitches. Parents of U6 to U12 players must remain on the Blatchington Mill site throughout the training session.
Arrival for training should not be earlier than 10 minutes before or later than 5 minutes after the scheduled start time. Lead coaches reserve the right to deny participation to any player whose late arrival disrupts the session.

Training kit
For all juniors it is a requirement to wear a mouth-guard and shin-pads. BHHC cannot accept responsibility for injuries resulting from not wearing them.

We have spare sticks that we can lend to new joiners from U12 groups during training sessions.

All juniors should wear sports kit and should take into account weather
conditions (i.e. water-proofs, gloves/beanie hats for wet / cold conditions). Layers of kit are recommended. Additionally good trainers for astro-turf surface. NB: We strongly recommend that juniors do NOT wear county kit to training or matches.

A full bottle of water is also recommended (parents may want to bring along a hot drink on cold evenings!)
