"I hope you’ve all had a good summer and are raring to go, for the new season. For those lucky enough to be in Paris for the Olympics, I hope you took inspiration from the Dutch hockey teams.
I and the rest of the committee have been hard at work since we were all last together in April. Dan Roberts-Hoad and his team will soon be inviting you to join a BHHC WhatsApp community, which will facilitate smoother communication. Julia Shorrocks has been spring cleaning our website. James Millar has been coordinating with Blatchington Mill School to upgrade the floodlights and avoid any repeat of the lights failing. Karen Edwards has been keeping the wheels of the junior section turning.
Meanwhile, Rachel Batten has been leading the recruitment of our new Girls Club Captain - welcome to Sorcha Lee, who will be stepping into Clare Garewal’s shoes - and will be ably assisted by Catherine Webster, our new Junior Membership Secretary. What's more, we're hopeful that we’ll soon have some good news to impart about a new Boys Club Captain too.
Our Men’s first team have recruited Juan Sosa, a Mexican international. Once Juan has been through the appropriate checks, he will be helping our team of coaches to inspire juniors and adults alike.
Talking of training, there’s some changes to the schedule this season. This is a logistical nightmare and my thanks to Andy Bromley and Myles Ford for listening to your feedback and addressing as many points as they have.
Finally, I hope to see many of you at Club Day this weekend - adults on Saturday and juniors on Sunday. If not, I look forward to catching up with you in the clubhouse, where Jenny and Graham will continue to welcome us, from Saturday September 14. Good luck for the season ahead.
Best wishes - Cam"
