Welcome to Brighton & Hove Hockey Club's (BHHC) Safeguarding and Welfare page.

You will find everything you need here should you have a concern regarding a child or young person; conduct of a person in a position of responsibility; or the welfare of another person, or yourself. At BHHC we are proud to have achieved England Hockey's prestigious ClubMark standard and, as part of this, we are
passionate about ensuring that all members of the club can participate and
enjoy their hockey with us.

Details of England Hockey's policies and procedures relating to Safeguarding and Welfare at club level are included here. We as a club are committed to
following all safeguarding requirements as outlined within these documents, this includes reporting and working directly with England Hockey Welfare and Ethics team whenever a concern is reported.

"It is not the club’s responsibility to decide if a child is being abused
or poor practice has occurred. Any concerns or allegations will
be managed by England Hockey, with the club’s cooperation and
assistance. However, all adults working within hockey have a duty
of care to be vigilant and respond appropriately to suspicions of
poor practice, abuse or bullying. It is your responsibility to report
your concerns."

You can report your concerns directly to your club's welfare lead by email, or via the online reporting concerns form. We take all safeguarding matters seriously and actively promote the welfare of children and young people, upholding our responsibility to keep them safe from harm, in partnership with The England Hockey Family.

Should you wish to directly report a complaint or concern you can do so via our online Concern Form below. All information will be sent to the safeguarding lead named above and stored confidentially. Should you wish you can complete this form anonymously by clicking here.

A team of Welfare Champions are also available to provide support for the
majority of concerns that do not meet a safeguarding threshold.
