ABOUT
________________________________________
We are one of the biggest hockey clubs in the South of England and with a total of 18 teams plus 14 junior teams, we cater for a massive range of abilities.

We currently have 10 men’s teams and 8 women’s teams, so whatever your level, you’re guaranteed some action!

New players

We welcome all players, young and old, so whether you be of international
standard – as with a number of the men’s 1st XI (and 6th XI if you believe all claims to fame!) or you simply fancy playing a game or two and haven’t picked up a stick since those good old days out on the wing at school, then send us an email on bhhc.newmembers@gmail.com

For information about our juniors, please click here: JUNIOR SECTION

Pitches and Clubhouse

Based at Blatchington Mill School, our two pitches are only a five-minute walk from the changing rooms at the school while post-match teas and hospitality (with a licensed bar) are five minutes away across the playing fields at the Nevill Pavilion, off Eridge Road, Hove BN3 7QD.

For all our fixtures and contact details for team captains, check out our contacts page on the website.

Kit

We play in navy shirts (with a red trim) and red socks. Our away kit is white shirts and white socks. You can buy BHHC kit from Hawkinsport. If you have any queries about purchasing kit, please contact bhhc.clubkit@gmail.com so
someone can get back to you.

Socials

Hockey aside, the club is a very sociable one, with new members always being made very welcome. There are numerous social nights during the year. If you’re new to the area, it’s an ideal way to get know people in and around Brighton. During the season the bar opens on a Saturday morning in time for the first games of the day and stays open into the evening until the last player leaves.

Umpiring

The club are always looking to progress their players and encouraging them to umpire. Umpiring, as a skill, is invaluable to a player. It increases their knowledge of the game and its rules, gives the player an opportunity to observe other
players' skills close-up and promotes a sense of empathy to the officials resulting in more respectful play on pitch - which in turn leads to more positive games.

This year, England Hockey are running a number of training courses, and you can find the full list of courses on the England Hockey website.

For anyone who achieves the level 1 umpiring qualification, the club will waive your match fee on the weekend you umpire.

Membership subscriptions

Players need to pay a membership subscription each year to join the club.
Members also need to pay a match fee for every game played (unless you get that level 1 umpiring qualification, then you get the match for free if you umpire that weekend).

The club offers instalment payment options; concessions for U18s, students and unemployed members; plus GK’s who provide their own kit, get reduced subscriptions.

There is also a social membership for anyone who wishes to use the clubhouse.

Members should contact the relevant club captain about a concession
subscription and instalment options.

Club administration

Brighton and Hove Hockey Club is run by a committee which holds regular meetings, as well as an Annual General Meeting. You can find the club
constitution, and related club documents in the information section of our
website . If you have any questions about these documents, then please do
